The decision to accept an international transfer to Malaysia can be a confusing and complicated one. The employee often has questions that can only be answered by making a pre move trip to Malaysia.

This package is designed to provide information on the local amenities closest to the vicinity of the accommodation of the newly relocated expatriate, and the cultural differences between Asian and Western communities. The objective of this exercise is to minimise the time and inconvenience of locating the basic amenities and facilities in the area and to cushion the new expatriate family from cultural shocks, difficulties, or frustrations.

Three programmes are available to the individual expatriate:

o 1. Pre Move preview (Look, See) programme

PRE-ARRIVAL / PRE-MOVE STAGE

Our customized Look See programme is designed to answer questions and help the employee and the Human Resources Department to ensure the move will be successful.

This 1 day programme is customised to the particular concerns of the transferring employee and provides detailed information on subjects of their choice.

Upon confirmation that the expatriate staff is entitled to an orientation programme, a questionnaire is mailed to the incumbent to assess the issues that are of relevant concern to him and his family. Information regarding the procedures that the new arrivee will encounter on his first flight to Malaysia shall be dispatched to him prior to his arrival date so that he is fully aware of the Immigration requirements & restrictions and any additional information that may be of help in the event that all does not go smoothly at the airport on arrival.

  • Climate & Currency
  • Language & Religion
  • Health and Immigration
  • Kuala Lumpur International Airport Services & useful telephone numbers f) Disembarkation Card & Travelers Declaration Card
  • Customs regulations & Duty Free Allowance
  • Business and Banking hours

Where there are schooling children to be considered, visits to the international schools or special schools to determine their suitability shall be conducted at this stage

o 2a. Post Move Programme for Singles

The Orientation to Malaysia Singles programme, is designed to focus on the practical, cultural and emotional skills of settling into Malaysia, whilst responding to the time constraints faced by a busy single employee.

Once the employee has arrived they will encounter the same 'ups and downs' of settling into a new country faced by families, however they have the added stress of trying to set up home whilst juggling work commitments. Our consultants are there to assist the employee to settle in quickly and reduce down time at work.

THE PROGRAMME

The programme begins with the completion of a detailed questionnaire by the employee and an assessment of their post move concerns. The consultant will then arrange a convenient time to conduct the programme, which is divided into two parts:

  • SESSION I - Laptop presentation
  • SESSION 2 - Customised Relocation Support

Both sessions can be conducted over one full day, or the two sessions can be spread over two and a half days.

  • Medical information: Medical practitioners, accident and emergency procedures, hospital facilities, pharmacy practices

  • Transportation: Private auto purchases, auto leasing, road accident procedures, taxis and LRT
  • Food: from hawker food to restaurants; health issues and etiquette
  • Domestic workers: Wages, legalities, and guidelines on hiring staff
  • Utilities connection
  • Drivers' License Conversion

o 2b. Post Move Programme for Families with Children

The Orientation to Malaysia is a unique post move programme designed to focus on the practical, cultural and emotional skills of settling into Malaysia.

Once the employee and their family have arrived there will be an intense period of discovery coupled with the expected 'ups and downs' of settling into a new country. The consultant assisting the family can provide a wealth of support and encouragement during this turbulent time, and much needed relief to local Human Resources personnel who are otherwise inundated with a broad range of questions and requests from each transferee.

THE PROGRAMME

The programme begins with the completion of a detailed questionnaire by the employee and an assessment of their post move concerns. The programme is run over two days and includes three components:

  • SESSION ONE - Relocation Seminar
  • SESSION TWO - Orientation Tour
  • SESSION THREE - Customised Relocation Support

Features of the programme include:

  • Malaysia's history, geography, demographics and politics
  • Ethnic communities, holidays, cultures and religion
  • Business and social protocol
  • Medical information: Medical practitioners, accident and emergency procedures, hospital facilities, pharmacy practices

o 3. Customised Programme

- A half to one month (4 hour day) complete personal services and orientation tailored to specific needs of the family.

This programme is tailored to the specific needs of the expatriate family immediately after the initial moving in, especially to accommodate the expatriate spouses & their children where transportation and geographical orientation is a problem. Families can subscribe for a half day, half month to one month programme whereby the family will be chauffeured driven and accompanied to any specific location and places of interest during a portion of the day (morning or afternoon), schedule to be pre-fixed.

The package is inclusive of petrol & toll charges within the Klang Valley only. Additional mileage shall be levied should the journey cover distances outside of the Klang Valley. Transport vehicle provided will be subject to availability but will be of similar models to a family sedan car.
